Hair tutorial & frankie

I have not ever done a hair tutorial so bear with me...

BRAIDED BUN TUTORIAL

you will need:
some bobby pins
at least two scrunchies
a brush/comb (I use a wide tooth comb, I just find that it brushes my hair better.)
optional: a funky hair accessory

1. Tip your head upside down, and brush it out
2. Braid it, starting from your neck all the way up to the top of your head. Then fasten it with a scrunchie.
3. Grab the rest of your hair and tie it, with the other scrunchie, onto the braid.
4. Make a bun. (I stuck a long bobby pin through it.)
5. (This step is optional.) Add a funky hair accessory.
And there you have it! A braided bun. :)

Have you heard of frankie? You probably haven't. It's an Australian magazine. :) And I got it in Saturday! Soo excited!! The only thing I don't like about the mag is that it's completely fine with swearing, etc. Which I don't like. The cute pictures, vintage artwork, and just amazing style of the mag does it for me, though. :) And it had some really funny articles. But it only comes out every two months. But, hey, things like that are worth waiting for, ay?

What I Wore// Celebration Sunday

outfit details
dress: the gap
necklace: c/o swallow's heart
bracelets: c/o dolly
earrings: diva
jumper: hand-me-down
tights: target
shoes: kmart

At church on Sunday, my senior pastor announced that we had raised a whopping total of over $500,000AUD in on Sunday! (We were doing a giving campaign, with the goal of knocking the church debt off it's perch) It's awesome, and an answer to prayer!

I was reading this post, and this post from Ivory GiraffesAnd this post, this post, this post, and these posts from Whispering Sweet Nothings. And thinking, they have it sorted out. They know what to post. But, instead of being envious, I read the posts, mulled them over, and got inspired. :) Cause that's what I do best.

Side note: I've decided to do this. Starting tomorrow. :)

I recieved two parcels on Friday. One from the UK, and one from the US. From the UK, I recieved a purse and hanky set from Harry and Lee Lee, by winning a giveaway over at A Ray of Sunshine. And from the US, I received a necklace from Swallow's Heart, by winning a giveaway over at love notes by lauryn. I absolutely love what I got!

7 Questions with Gentri Lee

1. What do you do when you're sick? (Do you act like a baby? Tough it out? Have any weird cravings? Cry?)
Tough it out. I hate being sick so I just keep going, and then get even more sick. I've never learnt that life lesson...

2. What do you do to find motivation when you feel you've lost it?
Sit down and listen to some music. And then. BAM! my motivation usually comes back!

3. Do you wish time away or do you savor every moment?
It depends on what I'm doing. I would love to savour every moment, but sometimes it just doesn't happen that way.

4. If you could be any mythological creature, what would you be, and why?
A griffin. It's pretty much a lion, cross with an eagle. Ever since watching The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and The Spiderwick Chronicles, I've always had a sort of fasinaction with them. They are so graceful, but at the same time deadly, regal but at the same time dangerous. Just the sort of creature you want to be if you ever wanted to scare the bejebus outta someone... (cause we all want to do that, don't we?)

5. What is your current biggest weakness and are you working on fixing it?
Doing too much at one time. Silly old me, I'm not working on it, just gonna let myself burn out. (watch for a post coming up on being busy)

6. How do you greet someone when meeting them for the first time?
Depends where I am. If I'm at a really familiar place I'll be in their face, if not, it'll be me and them sitting awkwardly next to each other.

7. How do you grocery shop? (Do you write up a list? Go in with no idea what you're looking for? Have meal plans? Bring your own shopping bags?)
I don't grocery shop. But when I do go and get food then I'll just grab whatever.

Guest Post by Courtney from Unhinged Vintage

Say a big HELLO! to Courtney from Unhinged Vintage. Go give her a little love, as this is her first guest post. :)

Hi I’m Courtney, you can call me Court if you’d like. I’m a girl from a small town, probably like several of you on the other side of the computer screen. I started blogging October 2011 in a little blog called Unhinged Vintage.

And here I am, writing my first guest post! Without a doubt I am a firm believer that if you pursue the things you love great things will come of it!

Unhinged Vintage is a collection of all things I adore. Adore….. is a fairly broad word. Everyone has different things they adore and I’d love to learn yours!  I’m jumping with excitement and squeeling with joy to announce a new feature of Unhinged Vintage.

Drumroll please…………………………………………………………………………………………………..

ADORE

I know you’re curious, so check out what this new series is all about here

My Style? I’m a little bit of a go-getter. I like to spice things up. If I were to describe my style I’d say vintage-bohemian-tribal attire. I always like to throw in a unexpected piece to my outfit!

What do you want your blog to become? I’d absoultely love for Unhinged Vintage to be a spot where woman, ladies, girls, and maybe even guys of all ages (ha) can come and be inspired. I am inpspired everyday by people, things, pictures, art, crafts and even blogs! I want the creativity & inspiration to be a two way street-----I inspire you; you inspire me!

What is the funniest thing you’ve ever been called? Ha! Oh, this is a great question. I LOVE sleep.  One night my roomate walked in to me laying in my bed crocheting.  It was 8PM on a Saturday night. The nickname “granny” stuck with me for a while.

What do you wish you could tell your followers? If I got the chance to talk to all of my followers in person, I’d be so curious as to what their hobbies are! My creative juices start to flow when other people talk to me about their passions. I’d first of all tell them, YOU ROCK! Then I’d tell them how unique they are and how the gifts God has blessed them with are outstanding.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I get asked this a lot! Mostly by older parenty-people. And honestly… I have no idea! And I’m okay with that. I used to think that I needed to have my career mapped out to a T. Lately; I’ve realized that you don’t need to have everything figured out.  I graduate college in one semester, and have NO idea what I want to do for the rest of my life! If you feel the same way, you’re not alone!

xoxo Court

Guest Post by Sam from My Latest Obsession

Thank you, Sam, for taking time to do this for me. :)

Be sure to stop by her blog/store and show her some love. It is quite awesome!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why, hello!
My name is Sam and I blog over at My Latest Obsession . I'm a 21 year old mamma that blogs, crafts, and sells clothes online at my store called Sam Wish . I basically blog about things I make, little life tidbits, and outfits I wear. So come on by some time, it'd be lovely to have you.
Guest Post by Rachel from The Quirky Poet
Rachel has kindly taken time to share with us some of her poems. Go check out her blog {here}
“Still Raining”
April tears falling,
then stoping, but the tall trees,
still dripping sorrow.
"Small Beast"
Speak, small beast. Within
your quiet heart, something shakes.
It’s lovely. Listen.
"Saying Goodbye"
The caterpillar,
with new, symmetrical wings,
flies away, smirking.
Hi there...My name is Rachel Marie.
My relationship with clothing has always been a bit dramatic. As is reflected in a lot of my poetry, I often give personalities to inanimate objects, including items in my wardrobe. As a young girl, I remember crying over a pair of sparkly, silver sneakers as I threw them out with the trash. They were too small, and I’d worn holes in them, but it still seemed cruel to abandon them like that. But it had to be done.
Throughout my childhood, I absolutely hated when other girls mimicked my clothing choices - whether intentional or unintentional. If a girl wore the same blouse as I did, I would immediately develop a loathing for said blouse and would never wear it again. A bit extreme, I know, but even at age seven I wanted to be an individual.
And so I have fallen in love with vintage clothing. I’m most usually influenced by the late 19th century and the 1950s.
A few of my favorite things:
Owls
A good book
Music (My favorite band is Nightwish.)
Emoticons
Shoes
Pearls
Poetry  (Obviously, right? My favorite poets are Billy Collins and e.e. cummings)
Alice in Wonderland
Online Shopping  (ModCloth.com and Etsy.com are my most frequent stops.)
Kittens
Hand-me-downs
Autumn
Muffins (!)
Hand-written letters
Twirly skirts
Rainy afternoons with Josh
